Janu Tokyo, the first hotel from Aman’s sister brand, Janu, is set to open its doors in March 2024. Aman CEO Vlad Doronin describes Janu as a response to the growing demand from a wider cohort of guests. While still embodying the same commitment to impeccable service and exquisite design as Aman hotels, Janu promises a “different pace and spirit.” This evolution aims to cater to a new generation of luxury travelers who seek a more vibrant and energetic atmosphere.

Spanning 13 floors, Janu Tokyo boasts a total of 122 rooms and suites, each meticulously designed with a minimalist aesthetic and a focus on symmetry. With a youthful energy and playfulness that distinguishes it from its more composed Aman counterparts, Janu Tokyo offers guests a refreshing experience. Most rooms feature private balconies that overlook the stunning Azabudai Hills of Minato City, a new urban complex.

To enhance the overall well-being of its guests, the hotel offers a 4,000-square-meter wellness center equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. From a fully equipped gym to a hydrotherapy and thermal area, cold and hot plunge pools, and even a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber, Janu Tokyo ensures that guests can rejuvenate and indulge in ultimate relaxation.

Janu Tokyo strives to make luxury accessible to a wider range of travelers. The company states that nightly rates start from $944. However, during our research, CNBC Travel found that rooms were unavailable for less than $1,000 before August 2024. It is worth noting that prices increase during the 2024 year-end peak season, reaching around $1,400 per night, exclusive of taxes. This places the entry-level room cost on par with Amanoi in Vietnam during the same period.

With the launch of Janu Tokyo, Aman has set its sights on a broader horizon. The company plans to open twelve more Janu hotels worldwide, catering to the growing demand for affordable luxury. These upcoming locations include Saudi Arabia, Montenegro, Turks and Caicos, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Portugal, Thailand, Turkey, and the Maldives. Each Janu property aims to capture the spirit of its locale while upholding the brand’s commitment to excellence.
